Workers at Abadan Petrochemicals went on strike on October 4th and gathered to protest outside the company’s building.
Abadan Petrochemicals has not paid its workers’ wages for the past six months. The workers went on strike to demand payment of their unpaid wages and to highlight the complex’s debt problems which have led to the suspension of the catering services and some dormitories.
The workers’ other demands include the reinstatement of the 40% recruitment bonus which the has been stopped. The company’s managers claim they do not have the funds to pay for it.
On October 3rd and 4th, at the same time as this strike, the workers of the overhaul department of this petrochemical company also went on strike. This is an unprecedented solidarity action at the complex.
