Retired labour activist Esmail Gerami was sent to prison on 22nd July 2024. He was arrested at a peaceful protest of pensioners demanding higher pensions.
Esmail Gerami was one of the pioneers in denouncing the reformist factions of the Iranian workers’ movement. He had criticised the Minimalist Charter of the Iranian social democratic tendencies in order to raise the public awareness about reformism.
He has been arrested and subjected to torture multiple times for defending the pensioners against the neoliberal economics of the Iranian regime.
