A nationwide demonstration has been called on Tuesday March 7th to protest against the Iranian regime’s poisoning of hundreds of schoolgirls.
A new low, even by this blood-soaked regime, was reached in November 2022. On top of the routine repressive measures against young women – like shooting their eyes and genitals; torturing and raping them in prison; making threats against their families and so on – schoolgirls were poisoned in retaliation for their recent brave and heroic struggles.
Starting in Qom, Iran’s capitalist dictatorship adopted this new tactic – copied from the Taliban government of Afghanistan – as its counter-attack against schoolgirls who have been protesting in their tens of thousands against discrimination, inequality and the lack of basic rights. The Iranian regime has now poisoned hundreds of schoolgirls in Tehran, Karaj, Qom, Rasht, Esfahan, Orumiyeh, Arak, Borujerd, Zanjan, Hamadan, Lahijan, Ilam, Safadasht, Shahryar and other cities.
These gas poisonings are acts of revenge for these children’s activism so far – and a warning against future protests! The regime knows that this is one group that will never support it, or even trust it!
Worried parents have already protested against these acts of chemical terrorism in several cities, including Tehran, Esfahan and Rasht.
The Shahrokh Zamani Action Campaign urges all trade unionists, socialists and other political activists to help us in mobilising solidarity for the poisoned schoolgirls and all girls and women who want to fight Iran’s reactionary regime for their full rights.
