We are gathering funds for the Praktika · People’s Café, which provides affordable food to students, workers, working students, and everyone else in need. Beyond this, it serves as a unique space for organizing social protests, workers’ strikes, and discussions and workshops on social and cultural matters.
The Café has been financially sustainable since its establishment in August 2022. However, due to the holiday season, with students and workers getting summer off and leaving the city, the Café will struggle to pay the rent. The amount of the rent for the period equals 2 250 Euro.
The Café was established by the Khma (the Voice) Movement thanks to popular donations. The Khma movement, anti-capitalist by nature, has been fighting against the inequitable distribution of resources and for raising class consciousness and streamlining popular dissent. Since early 2021, the movement has been organizing campaigns for universal free school meals, the affordability of medicines, and debt relief for pensioners in Georgia.
By donating to the Praktika · People’s Café, you will support students and low-pay workers in Georgia. It is a single space in Tbilisi city where they gather, meet each other and organize around their common struggles.
